What Does HAZWOPER 40-Hour Training Entail?
HAZWOPER, established by OSHA under 29 CFR 1910.120, ensures the safety of workers handling hazardous waste. This standard mandates comprehensive training before undertaking hazardous waste-related tasks.
Our course fulfills the instructional requisites for HAZWOPER workers operating in high-risk environments. With 24 lessons covering essential topics, participants are equipped to meet industry demands.
Commencing with an overview of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), participants ensure compliance with OSHA's 2013 updates to the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS). They delve into OSHA's chemical labeling prerequisites and learn to access worksite substance information.
Exploration extends to diverse workplace hazards and their potential impacts. Areas covered include site characterization, toxicology, hazard recognition, chemical awareness, radiation hazards, and bloodborne pathogens.
Participants acquire indispensable safety protocols, encompassing daily precautions such as safe work practices, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment (PPE), and decontamination techniques. Moreover, they become proficient in requisite monitoring methods like medical surveillance, air monitoring, and material sampling.
The course also addresses emergency procedures and specialized scenarios, including confined spaces, excavations, and fire protection.
Completion of the course mandates 3 full days of supervised fieldwork to attain HAZWOPER 40 certification.
